We at BOS are so appreciative of every donation that comes in – no matter how big or small. Every single one is an important contribution to saving the orangutan from extinction and protecting its rainforest habitat. You, our supporters, always give so generously, so now it gives us enormous pleasure to be able to offer you something tangible for your donation – the opportunity to possess something of incredible beauty, as a permanent reminder of your contribution to our work.
Say the name ‘Fabergé’, and your mind conjures up wondrous images of the utterly exquisite jewel-encrusted eggs which the Russian Imperial Jeweller, Carl Fabergé, created for the last Tsar of Russia, Nicholas II, and his wife, the Empress Alexandra. These Imperial Eggs, one of which was presented to the Tsar and Tsarina each Easter, have become highly prized objets d’art – and are still sought by collectors the world over.
The tradition of designing and creating jewelled eggs – which are now known as The St Petersburg Collection – has been continued in London by the late Theo Fabergé, last grandson of Carl Fabergé, and his daughter, Sarah Fabergé.
Theo Fabergé passed away in 2007, but he had already created a special Jungle Egg, which was destined to become a tribute to, and a celebration of, the survival of the world’s diminishing population of primates. It was the BBC’s Orangutan Diary series which provided the inspiration for the dedication of this Egg by The St Petersburg Collection Creations by Theo Fabergé to the work of Borneo Orangutan Survival, and to express appreciation to the supporters who play an invaluable role in protecting our natural surroundings and fellow creatures.
The Jungle Egg is one of the first in the St Petersburg Collection to be designed specifically for primates. A limited number of these magnificent works of art is now to be made available to the world, and – due to the generosity of The St Petersburg Collection -
the profit of all sales will be donated to BOS.
This is an opportunity of which we could only have dreamed – and we’re giving you the chance to become part of this unique and special relationship with The St Petersburg Collection as well. Theo Fabergé’s Jungle Eggs are available for purchase – at a cost of £3,950 (including VAT) each. It costs approximately £3,000 for us to release a rehabilitated orangutan into its natural habitat and to ensure its long-term protection in the wild, so the portion of your donation which will be received by BOS will go a long way towards ensuring the future of the species. We hope to be able to start releasing the first of our rehabilitated orangutans before the middle of this year, so in the very near future, you’ll have the pleasure of being able to relate your gift directly to the return of an orangutan to the wild.

An Easter egg with a difference

The Crown

In the design of this Egg, and through the medium of precious materials, Theo Fabergé has captivated mankind’s love and concern for our fellow creatures and their habitats. The Jungle Egg itself is freeblown in lead crystal, with hand-applied enamel and gold in multiple layers, and high-fired to achieve the brilliance of the vegetation of the tropical jungle.
Surmounting this creation is a Russian imperial crown, set with a cabochon ruby, in tribute to the origins of Theo Fabergé’s family at the Imperial Court.
Four orangutans – a mother, a baby, an adolescent and a father – are modelled from sterling silver and embellished in 24-carat gold, with eyes of sparkling faceted sapphires. They take their positions to raise the Egg clear from the ground, in a symbol of their role in helping to save their rainforest habitat. A full British hallmark, the edition number and Theo Fabergé’s personal signature decorate this exquisite ornament. Each Egg is accompanied with a solid wooden carriage case and certificate of authenticity.
If you’d like the opportunity to participate in a once in a lifetime investment – or perhaps to form a syndicate with a group of friends or colleagues to purchase a Jungle Egg – please contact
