Why They Need Our Help
The Orangutan is on the verge of extinction. As an integral part of a complex ecosystem, we cannot let the orangutan become extinct in the wild. Its habitat is being destroyed by a global demand for wood and palm oil, products which touch the lives of each of us.
The situation has become desperate for the apes. Nyaru Menteng has been over capacity for some time. Aside from the funding required to keep the sanctuary operational, so that it can continue to rescue orangutans in need, securing the habitat needed to release those ready to return to the wild is also a priority. As you can imagine, the costs of running as ambitious an endeavour as RHOI are substantial.
We are therefore grateful for any amount of assistance you can give, so that this work can continue.
You can help support the Nyaru Menteng Project by adopting an orangutan or making a donation to RHOI today. Whichever you choose, you will be helping secure the future of this charismatic species now and for generations to come.

I saw the Orangutan Diary dvds over the last couple of days and was shocked by the scale of the tragedy. I have made an adoption. God bless all those who are putting in the time and effort.

I haven’t been to Borneo, but I practically go to the Schmutzer Primate Center in Ragunan, Jakarta on holiday. It’s sad that their natural habitat is being damaged by irresponsible people. I wanna help them too! I will spread the message to save the orangutans as far and wide as I can! Because orangutans is the most valuable heritage of Indonesia!
