About BOS

Mum & Baby on Islands
The U.K. branch of the Borneo Orangutan Survival Foundation is recognised by the Charity Commission for England and Wales. (Registration Number: 1099591).
The Borneo Orangutan Survival (BOS) Foundation is the largest primate rescue project in the world, with nearly 1000 orangutans in its care. BOS actively rescues wild orangutans from oil-palm plantations, as well as rehabilitating orphaned orangutans, displaced as a result of the relentless devastation of their habitat to clear land for palm oil production. BOS is committed to protecting the orangutan and its rainforest habitat, and relies entirely on donations to achieve this.
BOS Global works in partnership with BOS Indonesia in support of its efforts to save the orangutan from extinction.

What absolutely AMAZING work Lone does, and all her helpers too.
I have videod every programme Birute
made for TV, and dvd’d every programme about Lone and all those baby and infant orangs – the number rises horrendously with each new series. HORRENDOUS that their forests are being chopped down for wretched palm nut oil greedy owners.

Hello, I live in England and will be giving a piano recital on 28th February at 7pm in Mickleham Surrey to help raise some funds for you. I was wondering if a representative would be interested in coming and putting up some visuals with a little talk before the recital to help. Yours, Tracy Kennington

i really wish i could be there to help in stead of waiting for them to dissapear, im 14 and love animals but this is wrong what the people have done, i mean distroying there habitat just for oil palm. its wrong. i have donated money every time i see one of those tins are the small stalls, i really love this animal and i hate seeing animals in cages like at zoos so i find that this animal should be aloud to live in there natrul habitat, i think that being able to go to the places were these animals live and being able to see them in the wild were they can run and hide if they want is a fabuls idea. SO I SAY SAVE THE ORANGUTANS HABITAT no matter what it takes.

I’ve seen the work BOS does on a TV programme and am so impressed by everyones dedication. I’ve been interested in orangutans since watching about an ape and monkey sanctuary in the south of England. A keeper characterised 3 of the great apes (something like) – If you threw a mobile phone to a chimpanzee, a gorilla and an orangutan how would they react? A chimp would smash it up, a gorilla would carefully take it apart but an orangutan would take it apart and then put it back together again.
I think they’re intelligent beautiful creatures and the work BOS does is amazing. Keep up the good work. From seeing what BOS does I now donate to their cause. I hope you will too.
