Keep up the good work; I cannot understand how Lone failed in her work. The orangs’ must be wonderful to work with and for.

A few months ago, I started watching “Orangutan Diary” on Belgian television and after a few episodes, I got totally hooked on these cute, wonderful and human-like animals. Laughing my head off at times, seeing the younger ones behave mischievously and at other times, crying my eyes out when watching an incident with a bad ending.
If you could pass on a message to Lone and her team on my behalf, I would love to say how much I admire their work. I think you are a superwoman, Lone, and together with the local people involved in the project, you are doing a tremendous job in preserving and caring for such a fine and amazing species. Watching the series also made me realise that it is not only the rainforest in South-America or Africa disappearing at such an incredible rate but also there, in Asia and especially the heart of Borneo. I have always had a weak spot for animals and the orangutans have definitely been added to my list of favourite animals now. Injustice is one of the things I cannot stand and I can’t help but think that the injustice done to these animals is just so huge. Such a fine species, so close to us, human beings, and yet, all we seem to do, is destroy their habitat, just so we could make more money by turning rainforest into palm oil plantations. Sometimes, I see the expressions on the faces of the orangutans and it is as if I see all the sadness in the world, just reflected in these tiny eyes. Dear Lone, keep up the good work and please don’t despair! I know that we want a different world for them, away from the cages, out in the wild. But you are doing a wonderful job in caring for these beautiful and intelligent animals and helping them get back into the wild, where they belong! Thank you! Greetings from Belgium, Heide

Im only young but ever since I watched Orangutangs Diary I realised these beautiful creatures need help and all the love and care they can get. I would love to have hands on experiance and willing to devote my life to help these creatures . In a year or so I will be starting College and I am unsure on what route to take. I need some guidance but i would love to work in a centre just like this but I need to know how to get there.

Hoping I can make a difference for the Orangutans !
